Collection Development

Liaison Program

The Library Liaison Program is an initiative to better foster communication and collaboration with the UTRGV and TSC community. As part of this program, the library assigns a librarian to each UTRGV academic department. The assigned librarian works with the departmental faculty liaison to select library materials that support the curriculum as well as provide any library updates.

What does the librarian do?

  • Maintains open communication with assigned faculty.
  • Shares library updates, status updates, deadline and order reminders, etc.
  • Creates and maintains subject criteria for their assigned subject areas.
  • Places orders for one-time purchases in their assigned subject areas.
  • Performs collection maintenance by evaluating, collecting, and weeding in assigned subject areas.
  • Provides assistance in finding resources needed by faculty.
  • Directs faculty to relevant personnel for assistance such as libguide creation/update request, course reserves inquiries, instruction requests, etc.
